(Lima, SoloAzar Exclusive).- “New Challenges on Remote Gaming After Regulation in Peru”, was the topic of the conference led by Gonzalo Rosell – President of the Association of Online Sports Betting and Related Betting | APADELA, within latest Peru Gaming Show. Here we present some highlights from the talk.

“We need exemplary regulation so that the activity can continue to grow at a regional and global level and achieve new collection objectives that the treasury intends to obtain, and at the same time ensure interests such as responsible gambling, protection of minors, and obviously an industry healthy, which contributes to the reduction of levels of informality and the generation of employment and greater economic dynamism in the country,” said Gonzalo Rosell at the beginning of his presentation in Lima.
Then, he commented on APADELA goals. “Our association seeks to promote formal and responsible development in the sports betting and online gaming market in Peru. Our partners are the main operators in the sports betting and remote gaming industry in the country. We have local and international operators, in many cases they are public companies that are listed on top-level stock exchanges, with the best international standards. Some of the operators have in-person platforms and others are 100% digital.”
“We have been operating in Peru for more than 10 years, contributing positively to job creation and the economy, always with the focus of developing responsible gaming in the country and starting this year we will pay the 12% special tax ( although details from SUNAT are still required to make that payment effective),” he added.
In his presentation, Rosell showed some formats in which the industry operates at a national level and the impact it generates in Peru:
- Some operators have retail, face-to-face platforms, widely diversified throughout the country, and this generates a very positive impact on the economy, generating thousands of direct and indirect jobs, as well as the tenants of the premises to operators. in person.
- APADELA is very active in promoting sports through the sponsorship of federation league clubs, and that is very important for the sustainability of many local clubs.
- He states that imposing new taxes can affect the business of the sector.
- He comments that investment in communication is very important.
- He shares economic data about the profitability of the industry.
Rosell clarifies that APADELA is in favor of regulation despite the significant impact that paying taxes generates on the profitability of the business, as long as the rules are applied equally to everyone. Otherwise, he states that this will negatively impact the business of formal operators. Likewise, said he is against an additional tax (the selective consumption ta)x.
“At APADELA, we highly value the technical and ethical capabilities of the MINCETUR team, led by Yuri Guerra, and their commitment to comply with the regulation,” says Rosell.
In addition, he says that APADELA is waiting for greater details regarding the regulations of the regulatory process, and they hope that this will happen in the coming weeks, to enter into a regulatory process with a definitive license for operators, and thereby reduce any gray space. that implies a potential regulatory risk.
“With this, we believe that we will have the ability to continue growing and contributing to the economy,” he adds.
He also hopes that there will be initiatives to penalize fixing crimes, which undoubtedly negatively affects the reputation of the industry, both for clients and operators.
